See, we were finally cleaning out the basement and garage and found a slew of empty and near empty paint cans. I understand that anything WITH paint is off limits, but I figured that EMPTY cans could go in the trash.

Boy-oh-boy, was I wrong. Empty paint cans will be collected, but ONLY if they're sitting next to the garbage cans so the collectors can see that they're empty. They can't go IN the cans, because... well, I guess because the paint goblins would come and fill them up.

It can't be an environmental thing, because the same truck takes it all.

So, I got to thinking that cicadas are biodegradeable, and therefore should be considered yard waste. But, does the city want a gazillion dead cicadas in their compost heap?

I didn't realize paint cans could not be placed inside the garbage cans. I thought as long as the paint was dry or you had put enough kitty litter in them to solidify the contents, everything was cool.

Seems I got away with major criminal activity.

Good thing you're a neighbor, reason, or I'd have to turn you in.

And, just so you know, the kitty litter thing is also verboten. You have to open the cans and let the paint dry out.
